Adele Sweeps Brit Awards, '25' Singer Takes Home Four Trophies


Adele reigned at the 2016 Brit Awards from the very first award of the night was given to her by One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne as the winner of the British Female Award.

Neither Harry Styles nor Niall Horan accompanied their One Direction bandmates to the ceremony or to the podium to honor the nominees for British Female according to Yahoo.

The singer took her podium to publicly support fellow Sony artist, Kesha, who lost a court case against Sony and Dr. Luke to free herself from her contract with them after accusing Dr. Luke of assault.

Adele then went on to win British Single for ‘Hello’ and was so excited she sore on live television!

Her third award was for ‘Global Success’ and her fourth and final award was the Mastercard British album of the Year for her 2015 smash album, ’25.’

Other winners of the night were James Bay who won British Male Solo Artist, Tame Impala (International Group), Coldplay (British Group), Justin Bieber (International Male Solo Artist), Catfish and the Bottlemen (British Breakthrough Act), Björk (International Female Solo Artist, and One Direction (British Video of the Year).

David Bowie was given a posthumous ‘Icon’ Award, which was accepted by his friend, actor Gary Oldman.

Both Oldman and Annie Lennox gave beautiful tributes to their late friend and music icon.

The Bowie tribute performance was sung by Lorde and featured some Bowie band members such as Earl Slick and bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey, who performed with him for two decades.

Slick worked with Bowie on his Diamond Dogs tour in 1974.

Lorde performed ‘Life on Mars’ against a backdrop of iconic images of the late legend.

One Direction won an award for British Artist Video of the Year for their clip for “Drag Me Down.” The award was accepted by Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.
