Ben Carson Confuses Immigration With Kidnapping And Enslavement. Twitter Reacts

Here’s a thing you could say any time he talks: today wasn’t Ben Carson’s day.

Carson was recently approved by the Senate as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. That makes him one of only fifteen members of President Trump’s cabinet. Pretty cool, right?

And it’s a neat chance for redemption. Ben’s earned himself as quite flexble what with all the creative ways he manages to jam his foot in his mouth, whether it’s saying that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Or that Satan inspired the theory of evolution. Or that Obama was the worst thing to happen to this country since slavery. In fact, best just to avoid the still-touchy subject of slavery altogether, right?

And then…

Sure, he’s *technically* correct – according to Merriam-Webster, an immigrant is defined as “a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence.”

But the internet wasn’t buying it.
