Chewbacca Actor Is Releasing Original 1976 'Star Wars' Script on Twitter



Peter Mayhew, the actor that has portrayed Chewbacca in the Star Wars franchise since it’s inception in 1977, is releasing his original script that he received in 1976 for Star Wars to celebrate the start of filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII. Peter will be releasing a few pages on his Twitter each day. On the final day of the release of the script Peter will pair it with a big announcement. Even the most die-hard fans of Star Wars will get to learn something new with the release of these pages.

The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the ‘Journal of the Whills’ by George Lucas reads completely different from what Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope eventually became. Peter‘s script along with Peter’s wookiee coffee thumbprints and notes scrawled on the pages are a treat to read and brings us back to the root of what made Star Wars great. The actor released the first two photos from the script earlier today, which you can check out below.

Earlier this week, LucasFilm released the first video from the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII, with principal photography under way at Pinewood Studios in London. Rian Johnson is directing from his own script, with Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman producing J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski serving as executive producer. It isn’t known how long principal photography is expected to last, but LucasFilm has set a December 15, 2017 release date.

This highly anticipated sequel continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Coming back are cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John BoyegaOscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Later this year, Disney will release the first spinoff entitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hits theaters on December 16. Star Wars: Episode VIII will follow next December, with Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo arriving on May 25, 2018 and Star Wars: Episode IX set for release sometime in 2019. Disney and LucasFilm are also developing a third spinoff, Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett, which is believed to hit theaters in 2020.
