DC Announces All-Day Live Stream Event, Is Major Movie News Coming?

DC Entertainment is about to do a serious bit of fan service because they are giving us a full day of live entertainment in the very near future. In honor of getting a million subscribers on their YouTube channel, the company is planning an eight-hour live stream event on Sept. 2. The stream will include interviews with comic book creators and more, but few specific details have yet to be announced. They likely want to keep some surprises in store.

The event was announced by DC shortly after they crossed a million subscribers on their YouTube channel according to The Hollywood Reporter. On a daily basis, the channel offers subscribers updates on what is going on in the world of DC Comics, video games, animation, TV shows and more. The director of DC Entertainment‘s digital marketing, Paul Malmont, seemed quite proud of what they have been able to accomplish in the last few years. Here is what he had to say in a statement about the upcoming event.

“Now, more than ever, we’re committed to bringing unique, entertaining stories about all things DC to our fans. The first-ever DC All Access all-day live stream event is a thank you to our fans for their support.”

While we don’t know exactly what to expect from the DC All Access live stream, we can assume that much of the day will be filled with interviews from comic book artists, writers, people from the channel and things of that sort. However, a recent rumor suggests that this event could be something that fans of the DC Extended Universe movies may definitely want to tune in for. Even if it winds up being a very small part of the eight-hour event, there is some reason to believe that some big announcements will be coming during the course of the live stream at some point.

Last week, a post that made its way onto Reddit (via 4chan), contained a leak of a bunch of rumors and supposed information for the future of the DCEU. There was a rumored shortlist of directors for Man of Steel 2, which consisted of J.J. Abrams and Edgar Wright, as well as new dates for several movies, like Suicide Squad 2 and Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie. There were also new movies on the list, like a New Gods movie being directed by George Miller, and a suggestion that Alfonso Cuaron was in talks to direct the Green Lantern Corps movie.

So why does any of that matter? Well, according to that leak, Warner Bros. was supposed to be making announcements as far as casting and other details for many of these upcoming movies sometime in “early September.” Granted, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, but if it is at all true, that “early September” bit definitely lines up very well with the DC All Access live stream. So, while certainly not concrete, don’t be at all surprised if we get a few bombshells dropped on Sept. 2.

The DC All Access Live stream will be hosted by the usual DC All Access team, which includes Tiffany Smith and Jason Inman. The live stream will start at 9 a.m. pacific time on the DC Entertainment YouTube channel, and will last until 5 p.m. The event should serve as a very nice bit of fan service, but hardcore DC fans will definitely want to tune in because there is a chance that we will be getting some major news as well. So be sure to clear your calendars, everyone.
