Model Chrissy Teigen did not just happen to conceive a baby girl.
The wife of John Legend chose to have a baby girl because her singer husband “deserved a daughter.”
“I’ve made this decision,” Teigen told People Magazine in an interview.
“Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl,'” the Spike TV hostess remarked to the magazine.
“I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me,” she added.
“It excited me to see…just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond,” Teigen commented.
According to a story by E! a couple can choose a baby’s sex through preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) or preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
These are some additional things fertility clinics offer along with IVF treatments, which was the route Teigen and Legend took to conceive their child after their traditional attempts failed.
E! also posted a quote from a critic on Twitter, which slammed the model for “messing with natural blessings from God.”
Teigen slammed back by responding, “My natural blessing from God was infertility.”
People reported that this genetic practice is banned in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and China.
“A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa — it’s crazy!” she said of someday expanding their family.
Teigen is the “colorful commentator” on Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle.”
