Anyone who has been following Dwayne Johnson on his social media accounts knows the actor never shies away from sharing photos from the set of whatever movie he’s making. Over the past few weeks, the actor has been shooting Baywatch, and his fans have been treated to numerous photos with his co-stars as production continues. Today, the actor took to his Instagram page to share a first look at Alexandra Daddario, who is portraying Summer Quinn. Here’s what The Rock had to say about his co-star.
“She takes Baywatch to another level.. World fell in love with Alexandra Daddario in San Andreas and I was so impressed by her chops and presence every day, that I had to have her “rep the squad” in our film. Just wait til you see her – and all our girls – kick ass and protect the bay. #GameOver #BaywatchBabes #CoverYourEyesBoys Baywatch SUMMER 2017.”
Alexandra Daddario joined the cast in November, signing on to play Summer Quinn, a character originally portrayed by Nicole Eggert in the original Baywatch TV series. She will be joined by Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Priyanka Chopra and Hannibal Buress. Dwayne Johnson also revealed that original Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has come aboard to star, but it isn’t known exactly what role he’ll be playing. In related news, the movie has added two new cast members, with Jack Kesy and Amin Joseph signing on in unspecified roles.
The story follows a “by-the-book and very serious lifeguard,” played by Dwayne Johnson who joins forces with a “young rule-flouting hothead” (Zac Efron) to try and save their beach from environmental destruction by an oil tycoon. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay most recently written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th). Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) wrote the original draft of the script, with Dwayne Johnson also producing alongside Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman.
Paramount has handed out a May 19, 2017 release date for Baywatch, which is currently the movie slated for release on that date. Dwayne Johnson revealed last month that Baywatch will have a 12-week shoot, with the actor then moving on to shoot Fast & Furious 8 and Rampage later this year. Take a look at the latest photo from the Baywatch set, and stay tuned for more as production continues.
