Viewers called Chan’s dress ‘completely inappropriate’ and said it showed ‘poor judgement’, according to KTLA The Los Angeles meteorologist who was told to cover up a dress deemed ‘inappropriate’ by viewers has come out in defense of her TV network, saying she was ‘simply playing along to a joke’.
Liberte Chan was delivering the 8 a.m. weather report on Saturday for KTLA News when morning anchor Chris Burrous presented a puzzled-looking Chan with a grey cardigan and said: ‘We’re getting a lot of emails.’
The news station came under fire for being ‘deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell’ for the move, however Chan has stressed that she ‘was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater’.
‘I was simply playing along with my co-anchor’s joke, and if you’ve ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time,’ Chan wrote on her personal blog this week.
