Mariah Carey isn’t the type to celebrate in a small way, and the same can be said for her upcoming wedding. The singer, who got engaged to Australian billionaire James Packer last month, reveals that her upcoming nuptials will be private but “grand.”
The pair is possibly tying the knot in Tahiti, reports the New York Post. The nuptials may include Packer’s yacht, which he has sailed around the island in the past.
Carey previously told Access Hollywood of her wedding plans: “Certain things about it [are] going to be grand. The most important thing about it is the relationship and the connection and the love of it all, but of course I love a grand moment. But we’re not going to have tons of people and stuff like that. It’s very private.”
Is Carey really holding her nuptials in Polynesia? Her rep said details are “definitely all rumors.”
Packer proposed in January after less than one year of dating. He gave her a 35-carat engagement ring worth a reported $7 million.
The songstress also told Access Hollywood: “Walking through a crowd wearing a ring on your finger and a lot of bracelets is a little daunting, but it’s hard to take it off because I love it so much.”
Carey and her ex-husband Nick Cannon, who share custody of their 4-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, finalized their divorce in April 2015 after almost seven years of marriage.
This will be Carey’s third marriage. Previous reports suggested she and Packer were considering a summer ceremony near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
