‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds is currently making the rounds promoting his new R-rated film and in a recent interview on Entertainment Weekly Radio, the actor was asked to reflect on his last superhero movie, ‘The Green Lantern,’ back in 2011. Many superhero fans will tell you that the movie was not Reynolds best work but the actor told EW he’s always had a soft spot for it because it’s where he met his wife, Blake Lively.

Reynolds said that while he and Lively started out as just friends after working on ‘Lantern’ together, things took an interesting turn when they went on a double date and ended up having more chemistry with each other than with their partners for the evening.

“About a year after ‘Green Lantern’ had come and gone and we were both single we went on a double date — she was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl,” Reynolds said. “That was just like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across [the table].

“We were buddies for a long time, which I think is the best way to have a relationship, to start as friends.”

Reynolds and Lively would wed in 2012, one year after ‘Green Lantern’. The couple have a one-year-old daughter named James. Reynolds also talked about his daughter during the interview.

“I truly worship that kid. It’s terrible. She has me so far wrapped around her finger it’s dumb,” he said. “She says ‘dada’ and I will walk through a cement wall to get to her.”

For her part, Lively has been doing her best to help Reynolds promote ‘Deadpool’, according to ET Online. She posted a photo on her Instagram last week of Reynolds sitting on a ‘Deadpool’ “throne” while he jokingly cups her breast.

“Two Deadpools, one cup.” Lively captioned the pic. Lively also declared that the film was the “Best. Movie. Ever.” on Instagram after viewing a private screening.

But don’t just take Lively’s word for it, Starpulse has its own review of the film as well. Our reviewer said the film is “whimsically irreverent, insanely quirky, and balls deep hilarious.”
