1217-dr-henry-heimlich-ap-01Dr. Henry Heimlich, the man behind an anti-choking maneuver that’s undoubtedly saved thousands of lives has died.

According to local reports, Heimlich — inventor of the Heimlich Maneuver — passed away just after midnight Friday in a Cincinatti, OH care facility. His family released a statement saying, “Dad was a hero to many people around the world for a simple reason: He helped save untold numbers of lives through the innovation of common-sense procedures and devices.”

Heimlich’s maneuver was used by a few celebs over the years … Ralphie May put it to work to save a choking baby in June, and Clint Eastwood did the same at a golf tournament in 2014.

Dr. Heimlich was 96 … feelin’ choked up yet?
