All eyes were on the Oscars red carpet in Hollywood on Sunday night, but not everyone’s style statement was a hit with fans.
Heidi Klum wore a lavender, one-sleeved Marchesa gown with flowers tacked on the waist and shoulder. The flowing tulle dress stuck out — and not in a good way.
And fans were not kind.
One Twitter user commented: “Heidi Klum’s Oscars gown looks like a bridesmaid disaster: In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re…,” referring to the “Project Runway” host’s famous catch phrase.
Another user wrote: “Heidi fire your stylist ~ that has got to be one of the ugliest dresses ever….”
Amy Poehler opted for a black gown with wide sleeves and colorful floral and butterfly embroidery. She received mixed reviews for the dress on Twitter, but we think the look was just too heavy. Perhaps if it was more shapely with slightly less material it may have looked a little better.
Many people included Rooney Mara on their best dressed lists, but we weren’t blown away by the Givenchy gown. The cut out in the middle seemed a bit arbitrary, and her hair a bit severe.
Costume designer Sandy Powell (who was mistaken for Tilda Swinton by E!) drew comparisons to the late David Bowie when she appeared on the red carpet. But her wide legged, green metallic suit paired with red hair and a choker was also compared to Jim Carrey’s version of The Riddler.
Kate Capshaw’s menswear look wasn’t awful, but her bangs were.
Jared Leto swapped a carnation for a bow tie on his suit, which also included red piping on the jacket. He’s never one for convention, but this look just didn’t make the cut.
