Tom Holland Talks Spider-Man, Visits Children's Hospital in New Video

A few weeks ago, Tom Holland visited a local Atlanta Children’s hospital dressed in his Spider-Man: Homecoming costume. At the time, we got to see photos of the actor wandering the halls, talking and taking photos with the various kids who reside there. His visit was made possible through the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Now, they have released a video from this visit, which you can watch below. During his visit, Tom Holland also popped into the recording booth for an interview alongside co-star Jacob Batalon. Asked what it was like to take on the character of Spider-Man, Tom Holland had this to say.

Spider-Man has always been a huge part of my life. I love the movies. I love the comics. And I always just wanted to be Spider-man. I could have never imagined this would become a reality. I love what I do so much. When I’m on set, I don’t really think about what an audience is going to think about a scene. I’m just thinking about how I can make it best. And how I can enjoy myself most. This is such a great process. Being on a film set, you are always around such fantastic people. And I feel like I’ve been lucky. I feel like I’ve worked with the best of the best.”

Jacob Batalon is playing Ned Leeds in the movie. And at this point, we’re not sure what the character will be doing in this reboot. Most of the video here is given over to Tom Holland, so we don’t get to see or hear Batalon talking about his character at all. Instead, we get to hear from Holland about the number of different suits he’s gone through on set. He explains the nature of the suit he’s worn to the hospital, and while so many costumes are required.

“I break them quite a lot because I have to do a lot of stunts – flips and stuff – so they rip…We have like 20 suits, I think, that we alternate, and this is actually what we would call a beauty suit, which means it is like picture ready, and then we have a stunt suit, which isn’t as nice as this one.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming is still shooting in Atalanta heading into the fall. And the production has required a number of night shoots. These have been especially tiring for the young actor. Though the first two weeks of night shoots were the worst. The actor goes onto explains.

“Best thing about shooting in Atlanta at night is that it’s not as hot as it is during the day. You just have to try and stay up as late as you can the day before, then try to sleep all day. In my bedroom, I didn’t really have any curtains. So I would try to go to sleep in the middle of the day, and it would just be daytime. So I didn’t really sleep for the first two weeks.”

You can watch the interview in full in the Youtube video provided by Seacrest Studios Foundation. Not only do we get to see Tom Holland talk about his upcoming turn as Peter Parker, we also get to see his generosity on display as he makes sure everyone who wants a photo with Spider-Man gets one. Spider-Man: Homecoming is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and arrives as the fourth movie in Marvel Phase 3, debuting in theaters summer 2017.
