'Warcraft' TV Spot Reveals Action-Packed New Footage

Just yesterday, Legendary released an extended TV trailer for Warcraft. Today, we get a :30 TV spot, and it delivers even more action-packed footage. This will either be one of this summer’s biggest hits, or a substantial bomb that could devastate video game fans awaiting more adaptations at the movie theater. A lot is riding on Warcraft. And the latest trailer promises an epic fantasy blockbuster that is sure to thrill genre fans. But will the rest of America be buying that ticket?

Warcraft has a good shot at become the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time. The competition is fairly lax, though. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider currently holds the record with $131.1 million, and this movie debuted way back in 2001. If Warcraft is a hit, it could pave the way for other highly-anticipated movies such as Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, and Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy set to star. There has even been talk that Nintendo may actually start licensing its video games out for movie adaptations, which hasn’t happened since the 1993 bomb Super Mario Bros. All eyes will be on Warcraft this summer. That’s for sure.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders. Orc warriors are fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky and Daniel Wu. This action epic is directed by Duncan Jones and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones. Warcraft is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.

The producers of Warcraft are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan. Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers. Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce. Warcraft will go up against a pair of sequels, New Line’s The Conjuring: The Enfield Poltergeist and Lionsgate’s Now You See Me 2: The Second Act. Do you think Warcraft could usher in a new wave of blockbuster video game adaptations? Let us know what you think after checking out this new TV spot.

Warcraft comes to theaters June 10th, 2016.
